5/16-5/20: Summer reading information from English; information on summer ALEKS math program; J-Lot passes can park in the senior lot…

We have made it to our last full week of school! The last day of student attendance is Tuesday, May 24th. Here is important information for this week:

  • We have a normal schedule this week.
  • Please see the following information from the English department regarding summer reading: The UHigh English Department is announcing our summer reading assignments. Each English class that is required (Freshmen & Sophomore) or is an option to complete our survey course requirement (Junior & Senior) has a summer reading assignment. Elective English Courses do not have a summer reading assignment. The goal of these assignments is to keep students engaged in reading over the summer months while building a culture of independent reading in our school. As a result of the past couple of years, our department has decided to curtail previous years’ expectations to accomplish our goals while also ensuring students have time to rest, relax, and recharge for the 2022-2023 school year. The assignments are listed hereby class. Assignments are due on the first day of school unless they are otherwise noted on the specific course assignment.
  • This is just a reminder that if you would like to sign your student up for ALEKS this summer, make sure to fill out this formby 3pm on Monday, May 16th! ALEKS is a web-based tool to help students maintain or advance their math skills during the summer. Students will be enrolled in a course with content specifically designed by the U-High math department that will help them be successful in next year’s math course. It is recommended that students spend at least 3 hours per week in order for the program to be beneficial. Please note that ALEKS is only available for students that are currently enrolled in non-AP and non-dual credit math classes. Feel free to contact Katherine Smith at if you have questions.
  • Any student with a J-Lot pass is able to park in the senior lot for the remainder of the school year.
